Pansies on the Porch

While heading home from the gym on the weekend, the boyfriend and I passed a little corner store brimming with flowers ready to be planted. The second that I saw these little pansies (for $1!) I knew that I wanted to put them on my front porch.

I have always loved pansies. They remind me of my grandmother because she always had them planted around a big red maple in her backyard. Every time I see them I think of her.

They are also just downright adorable plants. I love their little “faces”, just like in Alice in Wonderland.

I planted them in a big old planter that I had lying around. They brighten up the beat up old porch of my apartment building. Its nice to come home and see their beautiful little “faces” smiling at me 🙂

That little bit of colour on the front porch reminds me of all the colour and life that is about to return in the next few weeks. Last year I took the time to plant a few things infront of the house and I wasn’t planning on doing it again this year, but now that I see this, I remember how much I enjoy having something like this to see when I get home. Its worth the little time and money 🙂
