Peaches

On my way home today I saw a fruit stand with row upon row of big ripe peaches. The temptation was too much to resist and before I knew it I was heading back to the apartment in the stifling heat wave with my own bag of fruit.

I immediately sliced one and set it in the freezer to cool down quickly. Delish! I enjoyed every bite!

While I munched on my Summer treat, I looked up some fun recipes to try with the rest of the peaches now hanging out in the fridge.

I am a huge fan of Pioneer Woman, so there would be no surprise that her Vanilla Ice Cream with Basil-Peach Topping would be at the top of my list. The fun flavour combination is a welcome variation on ho-hum vanilla ice cream.

A peach list would not be complete without including a decadent dessert like Peach Cobbler by the Queen of Butter, Paula Deen. Although I wouldn’t recommend making something this rich regularly, it would make for a great finish at a dinner party.

Bourbon Peach Hand Pies by Smitten Kitchen. Thats all I need to say – the bourbon speaks for itself.

Barbecue season is in full swing right now in Toronto and these Peach-Slathered Chicken Wings are the perfect patio dinner. Just make sure that you bring out the napkins!

Last, but surely not least are these Peach Quesadillas that uses fresh mozzarella and fresh basil, combined with salty Serrano ham enhance the Summery peach flavour.

I’ll probably have another peach before the night is over – they’re that good. Lets just hope that I have enough leftover to try one of these great recipes soon!

What are some of your favorite peach recipes?
