If you haven’t already guessed from my sporatic blog posts lately, we’re getting down to the crunch with the wedding this weekend and writing posts, along with things like cooking and cleaning, have fallen to the wayside. It’s been an exciting time, with lots of wedding projects filling our time. I’m looking forward to sharing them on Wedding Wednesdays in the coming months.
Last night I took a break from all the glueing and crafting, and went to my aunt’s house for a beautiful shower she hosted with my cousins. There was fantastic food and lots of yummy treats.
My cousin Alex made these amazing chocolate covered strawberries, which I’ll admit I over indulged in, but they were just too good to resist. I’m picking up my wedding dress tonight and hopefully it still fits after all the great food I’ve had this week.
While I was drinking wine and opening gifts, Garrett went to the tux shop with the guys to pick up their rentals. My dad interupted the festivities to send me this pic…
They had hemmed his pants 5″ to short. He looked like Peewee Herman.
At first I thought it was a joke from my dad, who is a notorious prankster, but Garrett was quick to tell me that it was the real deal. Thankfully they were able to give hem a new pair of pants for him right there and all is well now. Phew.
At the crack of dawn this morning, my mom and I headed into the city to pick up our flowers at a wholesaler. Good thing we’d already placed an order, otherwise I would have been so distracted with all the beautiful flowers in the cooler. We did pick up a few more things that caught our eye.
In the end, we still managed to fill the backseat with big white hydrangeas, pink garden roses and lots of fillers. Over the next few of days, my mom is going to be working like a mad woman to get the centerpieces, bouquets and boutineers done.
Most of the projects we’ve wrapped up this week, including hand painted signs, ceremony programs and favours. Every day I’ve had either paint, moss or glue stuck to me at some point. I went to work the other day with a huge piece of moss in my hair and just about jumped when I caught my reflection in the rear view mirror.
We’ve got a convoy of cars taking all our goodies to the venue this week, including some big items like these gorgeous frames that Garrett’s mom painted with her own chalk paint recipe.
After eight months of planning, it’s hard to believe that it’s only three days away now. One more night in the apartment and then I’ll be sleeping in my childhood room with my sister for my last two nights as an unmarried woman. I can remember the two of us spending many a late night in our matching twin beds talking about our”someday” dreams and now I’m marrying mine and starting the next part of our adventure together.
Be sure to check my Instagram for photos over the next few days as I get ready to walk down the aisle!
