Happy Friday, everyone! Here’s to a weekend of sunshine and time with family and friends. I’m really excited for our drive-in date tonight. I’ve already got all the essentials packed – blankets, pillows, lawn chairs and dog treats. Now we just need to add some popcorn and maybe a few coins for the pinball machine at the snack bar. It always brings back childhood memories when we go there, especially when we spot some fireflies out in the fields surrounding it. I’d love to go there one day in a classic car (à la Grease).

Pedals & Peonies: I don’t know what I like more about this pic, the peonies or the bike box. I was so excited that we hadn’t missed peony season when we got home from the honeymoon, but it seems that they just came and went in the span of 48 hours. Poof!
Grownup Take on a Childhood Favourite: Do you remember those awesome “dirt pies” made with chocolate pudding back in the day? I’d love to try and make this updated Potted Chocolate Cheesecake version, complete with a mint leaf bloom. I wonder where they got those great clear glass flower pots too.
Functional & Fun Kitchen Decor: We got a really cool wooden cutting board as a wedding gift and I’m trying to figure out how to put it out on display, like these cutting boards on the styled kitchen shelves by Susan at Must Love Junk
Here is a similar idea in another kitchen. When I see kitchens like this, I want to trade in my dark wood for something lighter – and then I remember the tomato pomodoro sauce incident of 2009 in the old apartment where I had white everything. (Also…it’s funny to look back and see pictures from old recipes. Oh how much I’ve learned since then.)
New Life for Dead Trees: These hooks made by JPImagery in Boston are a great idea for a DIY weekend project. Take a fallen branch and use the natural lines of the twigs to make coat hooks!
Another Weekend Project: We have a bunch of wine bottles that weren’t opened from the rehearsal dinner and wedding that I’d like to keep for when we have company over. This diy Wine Rack from Shanty 2 Chic would be a fun way to put them on display. She also has an industrial style version.
History Forgotten: I came across these pictures of this amazing old library in Cincinnati and was excited to look up where it is, only to discover it was demolished in 1955. How did they not see the value in keeping this around! More pics here.
Brilliant Idea: I think it’s safe to say that we’ve all had some laundry mishaps. I’ve had many a sweater that coming out looking like they’re for a small child. A little note left on the washer lid with a whiteboard marker is a great reminder of what can’t go in the dryer.
