Birthday Dogs

Whiskey the City Dog Goes Country {6th Anniversary!!}

It dawned on me last night that today would mark six year since I adopted Whiskey. It was a beautiful evening out back with the dogs, so I thought I’d snap a few pictures of him to mark the occasion. Whiskey has brought so much joy, love and happiness into my life and I just can’t describe how much I love this little dog. I joke that Cola may be the baby but Whiskey is my best friend. And he really is. He’s seen me through all the highs and lows of the past six years and I’m so glad he’s been by my side through it all.

He lived with me in Toronto for the last two and a half years I was there (including being my office mascot), then to our apartment in the suburbs for another three years and a half years and now he’s a bonafide country dog.

He was just a scraggly little thing when I adopted him in 2009. When I look back at this picture from that first week, I can hardly believe that sad, thin, scared looking dog is the same strong and alert Whisk that I know today.

One of the questions I get the most since the move is “how are the dogs liking the new house?”. They absolutely love it here. Every night they go to bed totally exhausted from a long day of running around inside and out, chasing chipmunks (their new favourite hobby), keeping an eye on the chicks and sniffing every shrubs, branch and weed they can find.

We’ve always had a hard time getting Whiskey to eat his food (he can be a real picky eater), but all this activity has brought back his appetite too. At his last vet appointment he’d gained a whole pound of solid muscle! All in all – they are really doing very well.

Happy Anniversary Whiskey!
