Halloween was an action packed day full of mayhem this year – sugar highs, sewing machine breakdowns and frizzy hair freakouts, but in the end I made it to the party. Getting into a costume and having fun playing a character is one of the best parts of the season, and this year was a real blast.
This year, I went as a gypsy fortune teller. The puffy white top was from a pirate costume I made a few years back. The skirt and headband I made out of some fushia fabric I found. The yellow wrap is satin I unearthed at a fabric shop on Queen Street and I just added some tassels to it. The belt and tarot cards were borrowed, and the “crystal ball” is actually the planet Mars from my brother’s science project.
Kira the Super Dog, who does not look super impressed with me at the moment. Don’t you just love that brindle coat…soft and smooth beyond belief.
One of my absolute dearest friends, Lyndsay. You know when people say “you can call me at any time”, well she and I actually have that. Night or day we can call each other and without fail the other will be there.
See these amazing angel wings that she has on? Only $5 at the second hand shop, including the halo. What a score.
All the ladies. Nothing beats a great night of hanging out with the women who make you smile without even trying to and get you laughing until you fall of your chair. (I’ve got the bruises to prove it)
I did my hair wavy with a three-barrel curling iron that I got a Trade Secret a couple of years ago. My hair is super straight, so it was fun to do something completely different for a change, but I don’t know if I could handle wavy/curly hair all the time. How do ladies do it who have hair naturally like that? Its a fine art, no doubt about it.
Hope that all of you had as great a Halloween as I did, and I’d love to see pictures!
