Toronto

Boston!

This weekend I had the pleasure of heading to Boston with USECTOR, a group of supporters of the Toronto Football Club, to catch the TFC vs. New England game. I had never been to Boston and its always been on my list of American cities for visit, so I was really excited to head down there. We weren`t down there long enough to really see much, but I`ll definitely being heading back for another visit.

We ended up staying in a beautiful area of Boston called Brookline. The little shops had so much New England charm.

And the residential streets were lined with big beautiful manors that would make any small apartment owner (i.e. – me) jealous.

But while many people were out walking the beautiful tree lined streets and enjoying the spring flowers…

…I was with these hooligans. Yes, that is my friend Scott being pushed in a wheelchair, holding everyone else’s beer. I think that other pedestrians thought we were horrible friends for making him be our donkey and laughing at him, but in reality he can walk quite fine. Even run if the occasion calls for it in soccer. So don’t feel sorry for him.

While we were walking back to the hotel, we stopped into Pita Pit, which is one of my all-time favorite fast food chains. It actually was first opened in Kingston, Ontario where I went to university, and I have many fond memories of ordering a Chicken Caesar pita late at night (thats right, they delivered until 3am. Which was perfect for a film student who liked to edit footage around the clock).

After we refuelled it was time to get onto our bus and head to the stadium. I’m sure that we were quite the spectacle driving through the city with flags hanging off the bus and yelling chants. We got plenty of friendly honks and waves (and a few not so friendly ones)

Then it was time to tailgate – a tradition that we don’t get to experience very often in Canada. Our neighbours south of the border don’t realize how good they’ve got it!

It was a great chance to meet up with other fans who had travelled the 10 hour drive down to the game.

Despite all of our enthusiastic cheering, we lost 4-1 🙁
Just look at all those sad faces!

While I was in Boston I just had to have some Samuel Adams Summer Ale. I love the refreshing lemony taste and I wish that we could have it imported up to Canada!

And of course I HAD to get a few Charleston Chews. They are one of my all-time favorite candies. I even brought one home to stick in the freezer….sooooo good.

To cap this all off, here is a video that one of the guys put together of the weekend. I had a great time and I’ll definitely be heading back soon 🙂
