Country Summer

Just Another Canadian Thursday Night!

This week, my sister and I took some much needed time off to go see Brad Paisley perform at the Molson Amphitheatre in Toronto.

First things first we had to get a couple of glasses of Molson Canadian 🙂

Despite it not being my favorite beer, I think it would probably be blasphemy to drink anything else here.

KX96 (the only country station in Toronto…yes, its a disgrace) had a booth set up there. I’m never in a car more than 5 minutes before I’ve checked this station to hear what is playing.

Even two hours before the show was starting, the lawn section was packed with people setting up blankets and chairs. Thankfully we’d paid to have actual seats, because later in the evening it started to rain.

While we were waiting for the main event to start, we watched Easton Corbin perform on the side stage. I had no idea that he was going to be there, so it was a really nice surprise! He even performed his song “I’m A Little More Country Than That”, which I absolutely love.

Darius Rucker joined him on stage for a little while too!

After the little show, we were able to go up to the autograph table for the meet and greet.

Easton Corbin is just too cute in real life.

Josh Thompson was there too.

And Steel Magnolia.

This lucky lady grabbed a drumstick and pick from Easton after this set.

Unfortunately, this guy wasn’t so lucky….

…he lost his $100 cowboy hat in the moat, and security pulled him in before he went over the railing to get it.

Then seconds later this guy came in and saved the day by grabbing a pole to scoop it up.

The crowd was going absolutely wild at this point.

And of course he had to give the guy a big hug as a thank you afterward…completely drenching everyone in water from his hat as he walked through the crowd.

Finally it was time to the show to begin! Justin Moore was the first opening act and he did an amazing job.

Those big baby blue eyes were mesmerizing…I think I may have just fallen in love a little bit. Oh, and he sang well too 😉

Next up was Darius Rucker! I love his transition into country music, but he also played a few of my favorite Hootie and the Blowfish songs while he was up there too.

And then finally it was what we had all been waiting for….

Brad Paisley!!! 😀

He played all of his hit songs, including one of my all-time favorites, “Mud On The Tires”.

My sister and I were having a great time at the concert. Between work, school, family and friends, its really rare that we get to do something as just the two of us. Getting to spend a whole evening with her was just as great as seeing the concert…if not better.

We bonded over an ampitheatre full of drunk people singing along to “Alcohol”.

Brad has such an incredible stage presence and really gets the crowd going.

Halfway through the show he stole my heart when he walked to the back of the venue to a platform near the lawn section (a.k.a. – the cheap seats) and told everyone how when he was a kid he used to have to go see concerts from those seats too, so he thought he’d give them a front row seat for part of the show. How sweet is that?

The videos that they had with the songs were great, but I really loved it when Brad did a duet with Alison Krauss and they had her image come up like she was really walking on stage.

If I hadn’t of been a Brad Paisley fan before, I would have been one ten minutes into the show. His showmanship, sense of humor and catchy songs are addicting.

This was by far one of the best concerts that I’ve ever been too, and I’ll definitely be catching him again next time he’s in town.

Have you gone to see any good concerts this summer? Any recommendations for some great shows to catch?
