I’ve reached that age where many of my friends are married or settling into their first homes, so it seemed appropriate to share some fun gifts for couples or newlyweds. Some of these gifts are just corny at their best, but I couldn’t resist throwing them out there.
World Map (National Geographic, prices vary)
For the couple that travels, what better than a huge map to track where they’ve been together, where they met and destinations that they’d like to go to.
His and Her Matching Red Pajamas (Red Envelope $34.95 each)
These festive red jammies will keep you warm and cozy all through the winter months. The men’s are the traditional union-suit one piece style of long johns complete with button up back flap. The women’s set is a two piece with a henley shirt and elastic waist pants.
8 Boule Polished Alloy Set (Jacques of London, Amazon $50)
This Summer I was introduced to these fantastic team game this summer and although they may not be able to use this for awhile if they live in Northern climates, this is a fun game to give the couple who is always hosting impromptu backyard BBQs. The object of the game is to throw your ball so that it lands closer to the target ball than that of your opponent.
Smittens (Red Envelope, $34.95)
I just love the tag line for these: “Cold hands, warm heart? Not anymore!”
Smittens are fleece mittens that are built for two, with two regular mittens and a specially designed third oversized mitten to allow couples to hold hands and stay warm. I think I would drive my boyfriend nuts if we ever dared wear these. I’m way too fidgety to share mittens, but its a cute idea.
Oster Wine Opener with Chiller (Target $34.99)
Taking wine over as a hostess gift and forgot to chill it? Grab one of these on your way over and it will be a practical gift that the couple will be using during the Holiday season and throughout the year.
Faux Sheepskin Throw Blanket (Pottery Barn $80)
With the weather getting cooler, a nice big cozy throw is always a welcome gift. Package it up with hot chocolate, popcorn and a new DVD to make a great Movie Night gift for the cinematic couple on your list.
The key with giving a couple gift is picking something that they will both love doing together, so keep it fun and it’ll be sure to be a hit!
