Wishing the Long Weekend was Longer

Labour Day Weekend always feels like the last weekend of Summer. Kids are getting read for school and there is that slight chill in the air…well, usually there is. This weekend has been incredibly hot and humid here in Ontario. We all know how quickly the weather can turn bitterly cold up here, so it seems that everyone is trying to make the most of it, myself included – I have the mosquito bites to prove it.

Aside from all the bites, I’ve been enjoying all the wonderful late Summer flowers that are coming out.

Especially the sunflowers. They always remind me of my time in Tuscany, Italy where they grow fields and fields of them. I have a great picture of my sister in one of them.

How perfect does this sunflower look?

Whiskey has been enjoying the weekend too – chasing after flies, going on car rides and sniffing all the flowers (he loves to do that).

Another think he loves to do? Ruin my laundry piles.

I had all my clothes perfectly folded and just hadn’t gotten around to putting them away yet. Big mistake, because when I came back my little buddy had turned it all into a “nest”. I normally would have been pretty ticked off, but I figured its the weekend and I may as well just join him. So we curled up and read a book…and then I did laundry…again.
