Day 9: Paper Napkin Rings

I was lucky enough to find these fabric napkins at Indigo during an after Christmas sale for $7.50 for a pack of 4. Thats like $1.87 a napkin! I was able to find two sets in the same colour and grabbed them right away. When the fabric arrived for the new chairs, I realized that the napkins were the same colour. A total coincidence, but a very nice one!

This past weekend we had friends over for dinner, and were finally able to put the napkins and chairs to good use.

I added my sweet little arrangement that was one of the ones I made from a $20 bouquet. All the spring colours keep reminding me that we’re almost out of dreary winter days.

For the napkin rings, I decided to go with paper, so that I could recycle them and not worry about storage, but someday I would like to make real ones. I found the template for these paper napkin rings on Thoughtfully Simple and using Photoshop I created a much softer version by reducing the opacity and printing in black and white.

To make the napkin rings, my friend and I folded each napkin to look like bow and then looped the napkin ring around. A little piece of scotch tape kept it in place.

I love the soft dove grey colour against the olive.

For cutlery we used this gold set that Garrett’s parents gave us as a housewarming gift. At first I didn’t know when we’d use it, but since then its come out any time we’ve got company over. There are so many pieces we can use and it makes any table look festive!

The reason I had a tablecloth on the dining room table, is because I added in the table leaves. Unfortunately they are still that awful orangey colour compared to the rich brown of the stain. I can’t wait until I can get back to sanding them when the weather warms up. For now we’ll just cover them up when we use them.
