Birthday

A Little Girl’s Springtime Birthday

This past weekend, we were invited to my friends’ sweet little girl M’s 3rd birthday.

This is the same little girl who joined me at the Royal Winter Fair as a wee little babe at 7 months.

She hung out with Whiskey at the Santa Claus Parade after we’d moved in to our new home.

And the same little sweetie who had Garrett dress up to go “dragon hunting” last month – complete with tea towel capes and wooden spoon swords.

M was the first baby to be born in my group of friends and she’ll always hold a special place in my heart. I can remember taking the train to the hospital to visit her only 3 years ago (in the middle of a snowstorm no less) and being amazed by how precious she was.

Now she’s become an incredibly sweet and loving little girl, who reminds me so much of her parents. How adorable was her birthday dress!

Two of her aunts are amazing cake decorators, so they made a giant tier of butterfly cupcakes, in red velvet and vanilla.

I love the detail in the butterflies. Each wing was made with chocolate and sprinkles, and delicately placed onto top of the cupcakes. The cupcake liners were made to look like flowers too. A perfect springtime birthday theme and great colours!

There was also a sweet little cake for her to blow out the candles.

 Adorable!

The birthday girl was quite the little hostess, taking plates of food to everyone, but when she did sit down to eat for herself, she was a little more interested in making ringo chip rings. Do you remember doing that as a kid? I swear they taste better when you pluck them from your fingers.

After all the awesome food, it was time for presents. And boy is this girl spoiled. There were rows upon rows of beautiful packages.

Sitting in a mountain of Disney Princess Bags, she started unwrapping so many cool things that I would have loved as a kid – dress up costumes, storybooks, Disney princess figurines, a suitcase!

The best gift was from her parents – her first bike! I love the streamers on the handlebars. She would have rode that thing around and around the house if she’d been allowed – and in a dress no less. I can see her spending many a day riding this all summer.

Time for blowing out candles and enjoying cake.

 Good job, little M!

M’s younger cousins were there too, and there was lots of ohh and awwing over how sweet they are together. Plenty of hugs and kisses.

Aren’t they adorable in their little spring dresses? Perfect for an Easter weekend.

The youngest guest of the party was only 4 weeks old and slept through the whole thing. I swear I had baby fever by the time I left. They were all just so cute!

A lovely little birthday party for a special girl. Happy Birthday Little M!
