Outdoors Spring

Flowers, Bumblebees and a Little Dog

One of the things I love the most about moving to a more rural area, is that we have many new parks and trail systems to explore.

While driving through a nearby town, we spotted this trail opening and decided to hop out for a little walk with Whiskey.

An entire field was full of these delicate purple flowers, swaying in the breeze.

I couldn’t help myself from taking a few pictures.

And then someone started to buzz into my frame.

I think he wanted his picture taken – let people know that he is working hard to pollinate all these pretty flowers.

I don’t think I’ve ever been this close to a bumblebee before. I love all the little details – the yellow fuzz on his back, the veins in his wings, the carefully collected pollen on his legs.

And just like that he was on to the next flower, working his way around the field. Good job, buddy. Keep it up.

Whiskey was oblivious to all this because he was busy basking in the sunlight…and scanning trees for rogue squirrels.

Whiskey is always “on guard” when we go for a walk. We call him “Inspector Whisk” – always keeping any eye out for anything that looks suspicious.

If we’d had more time, I would have loved to have gone along the whole path around this field and seen what else we could find. Next time.

And that’s the great thing about being with someone who likes to go out and explore new places. There will always be a next time…a newly discovered trail to wander along…a new adventure 🙂
