We’re still up at the cottage this weekend, but I wanted to share some photos of another great small town in Ontario. I’ve done a summer and winter visit to Unionville (the original set of Gilmore Girls), but now I wanted to give a quick glimpse of summer in Uxbridge.
This is the same town where we did the Save the Oak Ridges Moraine Train Ride two years ago.
I ended up driving through here early on a Sunday morning a few weeks ago and I had to stop in and scope out their old fashioned downtown strip. I love towns that still have this.
Fun fact: The town is actually twinned with Catawissa, Pennsylvania, as many of its settlers came up from there in the early 1800s.
Unfortunately it was too early for most of the shops to be open yet, so I did a little window shopping.
The stores are all very well kept and full of colourful window displays, but I especially loved all the little window boxes outside.
As luck would have it, I came across their farmers market! I loaded up on some fresh cilantro and spinach and then made me way home with visions of guacamole and green monster smoothies in my head (although not at the same time). I can’t get enough of all this fresh produce!
I’m hoping to scope out some more small towns this summer as we travel all over Ontario. If you have any recommendations, send them my way!
