Despite the fact that it has been awfully chilly here the last week (what is up with that?!?!) I’m so excited for summer. Every night we talk about things we want to do this summer and places we’d like to visit nearby.
Camping
I love camping and despite the fact that I once worked at a provincial park for 4 years, I haven’t had a chance to check out all the areas I would like to. Last year I went to Bon Echo (awesome site!), but this year I’m looking at a few others up north. It will be our first time camping together and Whiskey’s first time too. I want to hike, kayak/canoe, swim and cook food on the fire. Now it is just a matter of finding a weekend that we are both off from work!
Dinner on the Porch
Now that our little porch is all spruced up, I’d love to have dinner out there one night and enjoy the fresh air. We’ve sat out a few times before the rainy weather showed up and I can just imagine how nice it will be when things warm up again.
Exploring our New Town
We moved to our new town in October and I have to admit that we haven’t done as much exploring as we’d hoped to do. Once I get my bike fixed up, we’re planning a big trip through all the old neighbourhoods and check out some of the local shops.
Cottage with Friends
Every year we’ve headed up to our friends’ cottage for a weekend with the gang. It’s a nice time for us all to unplug, hang out in the water, chill on the dock and build a big bonfire at night. The countdown is on for Canada Day!
Garage Sale/Antique Hunting
After finding our $15 dresser at a garage sale around the corner, I’ve got the itch to find more pieces. I’m still on the hunt for a cabinet for the dining room and maybe a couple of end tables, so it would be nice to get out and look around at what we can find. Plus its always fun to see what people are getting rid of! I love finding cool vintagey things.
Drive-In Date
Ever since I was a little girl, going to the drive-in has always been one of my favourite activities. We just went with friends on my birthday, but it would be nice to go just the two three of us (Whiskey loves it too), snuggle up in the car, share some popcorn and watch some horrible horror/comedy/adventure movie.
Picnic in the Park
Our town has a great little park near us that is just calling for a picnic dinner. I still have my favourite little picnic basket (seen here in the old apartment kitchen) and it is perfect for loading up some fresh summer salads, homemade lemonade and fresh fruit. I wish the weather was warmer right now because all this talk about it has me wanting to head out tonight!
Wonderland
We ended up snagging some free tickets to Wonderland amusement park this year, so we’re hoping to head out one day this summer and visit it again. Apparently they have a new roller coaster that is 306 feet tall that Garrett is super excited to go on. Gulp.
Kayak Adventures
My parents recently purchased a new kayak which means we now have seating for three people between the two kayaks. Time to load them up with my brother and sister and go somewhere fun to explore!
I’m sure there are lots of other things I’ll think of as the months go on, but now that I’ve written these ones down here maybe we’ll actually do them all!
What is on your Summer Wish List this year?
