Apartment Decor Dogs

A New Couch

A couple of weekends ago, I got a call from my parents asking if we’d like a new-to-us couch. They’d found one they wanted to buy for their cottage, from a nice non-smoking, no-cat home that had just been sitting in their basement, not getting used. The kicker was that it came as a set of two, meaning that my parents’ had an extra couch to get rid of. When they called us to see if we were interested, we of course said yes!

The hard part was getting it into the apartment. It’s a sofa couch and anyone who has ever had to move one knows that they weigh a tonne. Poor Garrett and his buddy had to wrestle this monster in, which even involved taking the front door off it’s hinges.

But once it was finally in place, we were so glad to have it here. It’s a very neutral colour, and I’m looking forward to livening it up with some new throw pillows. For now, I have the original cushions it came with on there, along with an ultra cozy blanket – a must this chilly winter.

Whiskey has already claimed the top of the couch as his perch. He sits here everyday – watching the people/squirrels/birds out the window, taking naps in the sunbeams and sniffing my hair (which always creeps me out!). I’ve even caught him sleeping up there.

For now, we still have the old couch here too, taking up the other half of the living room. We’ll move it soon, but for now it’s been nice to have the extra seating, even if it does crowd up the room. Once we find a house of our own, we’ll be glad to have it then.

No doubt, your couch is a cosy kind of furniture perfect for your place. Your cute dog can prove that. 🙂 Bravo to your parents for giving you that couch!
