Last month I made Fabric Covered Binders to hold some of my recipes, household paperwork and financials. They’ve been great at corralling everything that was overflowing on my desk.
Fast forward to this weekend and I noticed all my DVDs taking up a whole shelf in the living room (I wish I’d taken a before picture). As a filmmaker, I get many films from friends and colleagues…and my collection was getting out of control. I started brainstorming a way to reduce all the clutter and make it easier to find DVDs when I needed them.
I found these great Case Logic Sheet Protectors, which hold 200 discs for $10. I was able to transfer my entire DVD collection over to one large binder. The sheets also have a soft backing in the slots, which protects your discs from scratches and dings. You could use this for other discs too, such as computer games, video games and music CDs.
It’s always rewarding to see how much junk you get rid of when you do a purge. This is just half of the trash that I threw out for the DVD cases. I kept some of the collectors edition films in their original cases, but for the most part I threw them out.
Now I just need to cover the binder with some fabric and make it look as colourful and fun as these ones in the office. Such an easy way to take a drab binder and use it to brighten up a space!
