Spring

Signs of Spring

As soon as I got home last night, I went around opening all the windows in the apartment. It’s still fairly chilly out, so I only left them open for about half an hour, but it was enough time to let all that sweet spring air blow through and freshen the place up.

All that fresh air inspired me to pull out our spring/summer linens. As much as I love the warmth of the thicker winter sheets, I prefer this light and airy look better. I couldn’t wait to slip in under those fresh sheets last night. We replaced both sets of our larger pillows a couple of weeks ago and they are still so big and fluffy. I love to curl up with a book and just melt into that pile of pillows.

Whiskey’s favourite spot to hang out every evening is the sunbeam at the end of our bed.  He can watch everyone coming home along our street. I’ll be cooking in the kitchen and hear the occasional grumble from his perch in the bedroom…usually it means that another dog had the audacity to venture into his neighbourhood.

Last weekend, I washed off all the patio furniture and now it’s just waiting for us to use it on a nice day. I can’t wait for the summer when we can drag these to the park for music nights and outdoor movies.

I planted a pot of tiny pansies in a cute little pot at the top of the stairs. I had them in the house to a few days and it may have been too hot, making their petals curled in a bit. They’re already looking a bit perkier this morning. I’m looking forward to seeing their cute “faces”, like the flowers in Alice in Wonderland.

Beautiful clusters of crocuses have been popping up around the neighbourhood. Whiskey likes to stop and sniff them on our walks.

They are always a lovely reminder that Spring has indeed arrived (and hopefully to stay!)

I’m not sure what these little white flowers are called, but they look like little molars hanging from stems. Anyone know what they’re called?

Aside from smelling flowers, Whiskey is on high alert for squirrels and birds. When I hear birds chirping, I smile and think about how lovely it is to have them back from their winter abroad.

When Whiskey hears them, he licks his lips and thinks about the time he actually caught one. If given the chance, I’m sure he would do it again.

We’re hoping to go out for a walk at our friend’s property this weekend and get all this springtime energy out of him. I know that we can use a good hike to stretch out our legs too!

The spring is coming, and everyone are busy in setting up their patio, I just finished washing them yesterday, maybe tomorrow, I will start to organize them, so exited to use them for an outdoor activity this summer.
