Friends Wedding

A Garden Wedding – Niki & Tyler

This past weekend, we had the pleasure of attending the wedding of our good friends, Niki and Tyler. It was a beautiful event that was full of good laughs and lots of fun – just like these two are.

The ceremony and reception took place in a beautiful greenhouse, under a canopy of trees and ferns. It was an awesome venue, with gorgeous gardens everywhere you went.

There were five groomsmen in grey suits with yellow ties, and nine lovely bridesmaids in a rainbow of pastel colours. The flower girl, the bride’s curly haired niece, found the best spot in the house and plunked herself down on the dance floor to continue tossing her flower petals throughout the ceremony.

The bridesmaid bouquets were these adorable burlap and ribbon-wrapped bundles of white daisies – the bride’s favourite flower.

The bride chose this beautiful cocktail length dress, with the cutest yellow heels I’ve ever seen (and nails to match!)

Their first kiss as husband and wife!

While they were taking photos, we walked around the grounds to check out all the greenhouses and gardens. It was raining earlier in the day, but you would never know because everything was bright and vibrant inside.

Antique tools down a hallway and the waterfall that was behind our table. There were little touches around every corner.

Outside there was this beautiful garden, with what looks like an area setup for an outdoor ceremony as well.

At the entrance, there was a homemade quilt laid out on a table with fabric markers for guests to write their best wishes to the couple. I can only imagine what Garrett was writing.

The cake was a decadent 4-tiered chocolate cake with a white fondant and a waterfall of colourful daisies cascading down the side.

Cutting the cake!

We had a great night hanging out with good friends and celebrating the special occasion.

There were so many great speeches, including a couple of sidesplitting ones by their fathers.

Garrett had a slice of the wedding cake, while I enjoyed a nice big bowl of fruit. Most people give me sad faces when they realize I can’t eat many desserts with my peanut and nut allergies, but if they only knew how much I love fruit, especially when it is all chopped up for me!

Hanging out with the bride and getting her to join us for a couple of numbers on the dance floor.

As the sun started to go down, the twinkle lights and lanterns in the trees came on.

They illuminated the dance floor for the first dance and transformed the room into a twinkly light forest.

Garrett threw off his jacket while I swapped my heels for sandals and we danced the night away with the rest of the guests. And when I say we danced…I mean we danced…hands up in the air, singing along to the words, lots of dramatic spins and dips – it was a blast.

We both agree that it was one of the best nights we’ve had in a long time and we only wish it could have lasted right through until morning (although I don’t think our feet could have lasted that long). Congrats Niki & Tyler!
