Summer Evening Walk

As much as I love autumn, it’s bittersweet when summer starts to dwindle down. The sun sets sooner and the temperatures drops at night. We’ve been having a cooler than normal summer anyways, so the past week has felt like fall is right around the corner. I actually had to wear a sweater and socks to bed last night!

 

Before the warmer weather completely vanishes, I want to make it my goal to get outside more. Whether it’s for nighttime walks with Whiskey or morning jogs, I need to soak up as much Vitamin D as I can. It helps that we live in a lovely town and I’m always inspired by the beautiful homes around us when I head out.

 

I had to stand in the middle of the street to get all of this house in the picture, but it was worth it to be able to share this lovely home with you. It’s hard to tell in the photo, but the front porch is actually a semi-circle with curved steps leading down onto the immaculate front yard. I was once running by there and spotted a cat sitting on the porch. He just looked right at home sitting there. I think every front porch needs a nice cat. It makes me think of Trevor, the friendly stray cat I used to have at my old place in Toronto.

 

I’m a big fan of beautiful, rugged looking landscaping. From the lush bushes and tall trees to the barn rail fence, this home looks likes it would fit out in the country as well as in town.

 

I have always loved the symmetry of this home. The ornate detail around the double doors and the matching bay windows are beautiful.

 

It’s the same house where I did Whiskey’s photoshoot in the leaves last year.

 

As the sun started to go down and I made my way back home, I spotted this cute home. I hope that someday down the line Garrett and I can find a nice older home that we can take care of like so many of our neighbours have. It doesn’t have to be in this town, and we’re probably talking many many years from now, but I love the thought of showing an old home some love. It would be a thank you to all the older homes that have been inspiring me along then way.
