Dogs Travel

Back in Canada

After 16 days on our honeymoon road trip, we made it home last night. We had an amazing time and I can’t wait to tell you guys all about it, but for now I’m just glad to be back home. As fun as it is to be on vacation and to explore new places, it felt so good to be back in our little apartment last night.

We brought back lots of goodies to fill our home with, including an unexpected surprise that you may have seen on Instagram yesterday.

Our last stop on our way home was to a rescue in rural Pennsylvania to pick up this fella. We planned to just go take a look and see if he would be a good fit for our little family, but the second we got there he ran up to Garrett and nuzzled his head into his vacation beard. I knew then that we were goners.

He looks like a smaller all black version of Whiskey. I’ll tell you all about it later this week…as soon as we come up with a name! With Whiskey, I knew what his name would be instantly but it’s been much harder coming up with one that truly fits this guy’s spunky personality.

Speaking of Whiskey, my biggest worry was that Whiskey would be upset about having a new dog. Aside from a few little bouts of jealousy, they’ve been getting along really well. I even caught them laying beside each other when I went home at lunch today to let them out.

The biggest task on our hands this week – cleaning up the apartment. It’s like a bomb went off with wedding stuff still everywhere, luggage, shopping bags and now a dog crate. And that doesn’t even get into the stuff we still have at our parents’ homes. But there is nothing I love more than a good organization challenge!

I’ m so glad you chose to adopt/rescue and not buy! BIG THANKS! He’s so cute. We have three rescues, and they’re awesome. Congratulations for being a family of four!

Thanks Marie! Whiskey is a rescue and we couldn’t pass up giving another great dog a home. Both our families have only rescue animals too, so we’re all big supporters of it.
