Happy Friday! What a whirlwind week! Between moving and celebrating my birthday (and getting chicks!) it feels like I’ve hardly taken a breather in a long time but it’s all for happy things. It’s weeks like this (even the good ones) that make you really appreciate the weekend. I feel like I’ve been waiting for Friday night since Monday morning, ha!

Living Out of Boxes – We made so much headway last Saturday night in unpacking the kitchen and setting up the living room in anticipation of my birthday party on Sunday but since then we’ve still been living out of boxes. It’s a challenge every morning to root around through boxes to find work clothes or figuring out what to pack for lunches. It’ll be nice to have time this weekend to organize everything. If there was one thing I would do differently, it’s to take time off after the move. I jumped right back into work on Monday and by the time I get home every night, my feet are dragging.
Raising Chickens – I never expected to be a chicken mama right now, but I have to admit that it’s pretty awesome. These five little gals are just too fun right now. I love hearing their excited chirps when I give them fresh water and feed in the morning and I look forward to playing with them out on the grass every evening.
They are growing so fast and I swear they have new feathers every morning. Very quickly they are going to be too big for the big galvanized tub they’re in and I still have to think about what to put them in next before they’re ready for the coop!
Manual Labour – I know that this is just a novelty and that it will probably wear off pretty quickly, but for now we’ve been really enjoying having land to take care of. I’m actually looking forward to cutting the grass with Garrett tonight after work with our duelling push mowers. Just don’t tell my parents or they’ll never let me live down all the years I complained about doing theirs. We have a big front garden and weeding it is my big goal for tomorrow morning. That and maybe a nap!

Hope you have a great weekend!

Amanda, this is my first visit to your blog, so I didn’t know you’d just moved into a house. I saw the reference to your apartment and then “raising chickens” — thought, whoa, apartments in Canada must be different than apartments in the US! 😀

Oh those sweet chicks are too cute. Just catching up but it looks like you have plenty keeping you busy!
