If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you’ll know that our family just got home from a five week road trip through the US. Garrett has had time off and it worked out perfectly to pack up the kids and visit family and friends. It also let us skip out on the tail end of the winter weather.
We drove through 16 states and stayed overnight in seven of them. I’ll be sharing more about our road trip in a series of blog posts over the next few weeks and you can also catch the Instagram Stories I shared throughout the trip in the Highlights section.
It was a really special time to spend together as a family and we made lots of great memories. It went surprisingly well travelling with a toddler and a baby, and I’ve had lots of messages from parents asking how it worked out. Travelling with kids is totally doable (and fun!) so I’ll be sharing a post on this soon too.
Our trip was cut short by a couple of days when Lucy got a high fever on our first night in Chicago. We packed up the next morning and drove right through to get home very late on Tuesday night. She woke up the next morning in her own bed without a fever, but as luck would have it, now Garrett and I have painful head colds. We’ll probably be laying low the next few days while we unpack and I try to catch up to the mountain of laundry. Despite doing laundry throughout our trip, we still had quite a bit by the time we got home.
I love travelling and exploring new places, but coming home again is great too. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, right?
