Our New Exterior Door Hardware + Schlage Giveaway!

When we started the exterior renovations of our 1903 farmhouse back in 2015, we worked hard to paint the entire farmhouse, repair the window frames and fix the porch, but there was one piece that we didn’t get around to changing – the door hardware. Now that we’ve updated them I realize that it was so fast and easy, we should have done it years ago!

We’ve actually not had a functioning front door knob in all this time and never even had the key for that lock, so you can imagine just how EXCITED I was to partner with Schlage Canada to find the perfect solution for all three of our exterior doors. Schlage is known for their great design and thoughtful innovation. They have an amazing selection of high quality locks, door knobs and handlesets, including the new Schlage Sense Smart Deadbolt, which we installed at our back door. I’ve put together a video of how easy it was to install new hardware on all three doors, even using their Schlage Sense App to install one of them. We were able to install new hardware on all three doors in one afternoon, and most of it was when the kids were both napping. Garrett and I joked that it was almost like a date, getting to work on a project together in peace, ha!

See how easy that was?!? I was even able to do most of the front door with Rosie strapped onto me.

For the front door, we chose the Custom Camelot Single Cylinder Handleset and Interior Georgian Knob with Camelot Trim in Matte Black. Your doorknob is usually the first thing someone touches when they’re entering your home, so why not make a great first impression.

For the mudroom door, we picked the Georgian Knob with Camelot Trim Keyed Entry Lock and Single Cylinder Deadbolt in Matte Black.

On the back door, we opted to use the new Schlage Sense Smart Deadbolt with Camelot Trim with an Accent Lever with Camelot Trim in Satin Nickel.

I love not only being able to unlock without digging out my keys and lock the door by pushing one button – this lock goes even one step further. Using the Schlage Sense app and bluetooth technology, I can unlock our door using the app on my phone before I even get out of the car! We had company pop by the other day and I unlocked the door for them from the couch while taking care of the baby – how awesome is that!

  8. I would definitely love this! I’ve called a locksmith more times than I’d like to admit because I’ve forgotten my house key! Our lock is very basic and actually doesn’t fee secure. And we don’t even have a key to our front door. This post made me realise how much we need a new lock, ha!
