Up here in Canada we celebrated our Thanksgiving six weeks ago, but today its turkey time in the US, and I wanted to say Happy Thanksgiving to all my friends and family south of the border!
For awhile when I was growing up my father was working in the US, commuting back and forth on Mondays and Fridays. It meant that he would get the American Thanksgiving off, and so we’d celebrate both days – it just meant double the turkey. Its interesting how the two holidays can be about the same thing, yet be so different. In Canada its about the beginning of Fall, and being thankful of the harvest that we had this year. Whereas in the US there are also the pilgrims, football, the Macy’s Parade, Black Friday and the beginning of the “holidays” from Thanksgiving to Christmas through to New Years.
Whatever you are doing today, I hope that you have a wonderful day full of family, friends and of course food!
