Dogs

The Year of the Wild Doberman

A year ago today my family adopted a crazy and wild 14-month-old Doberman and since then things have never been the same. Shadow has weazled her way into our hearts with her jumping fits, beady black alligator eyes, and her flipped up crooked ear.

We took her to the Atlantic ocean in Maine this summer and she became a beach comber…searching for shells in the sand and gulping up salt walter as she ran in the surf.

She became our co-pilot on all roadtrips, making frequent requests for a stop at Tim Horton’s. She’s is a Timbit fiend.

She would attempt to hide under the curtains in the kitchen, only to emerge looking like a Satanic nun. And my mother wonders why the curtains get dog hair on them?

Shadow would become the unlikely best friend of one small wild mutt…

…and then show him who’s boss in a friendly game of tug-o-war. Can you guess who won?

She’s also became our little Skipper – she loves to hop into the boat and go for a ride up the river, watching for any wayward seagulls (with her trusty sidekick beside her). And there is that ear again.
So here’s to a wild and crazy year with a lovable 70 lb lapdog who can eat a loaf of bread in 20 seconds flat!

Those are so cute, Amanda. The one with him in the front seat is just screaming for a voice bubble. He really looks like he’s saying something. And how cute is the one in the drapes? So glad to see he doesn’t have his ear clipped. I never understood that! Happy New Year to you!

Aww – they are so cute!
I got the books and bag from the giveaway yesterday, and I just LOVE them! It was perfect – 3 books for 3 girls, and they were all read and loved. The bag is so cute too – thank you for one of my favorite gifts of Christmas!
