Whiskey’s Day Job

I mentioned this once before with my video Whiskey vs The Cursor, but I have the luxury of taking Whiskey to work with me everyday. We’re a pretty laid back company and he is thankfully very friendly so it works out well. And I’m sure he is happy to not be left alone at the apartment all day. But yesterday he did something so beyond “cute” that I just had to snap a photo on my Blackberry and put it up on SHBS…

He crawled up the back of my desk chair, landed on my shoulder and FELL ASLEEP! I’m not even kidding. He just curled up on my shoulders for a nap, like a cat or something. Being the loving dog owner that I am I thought “oh, I’ll just leave him there while I type up some emails”…..but then the snoring started. right. in. my. ear.
I would like to pretend that his napping on my office chair is a rare occurance but the fact of the matter is that it isn’t. Ever seen the show “Dogs with Jobs”? Huskies that race across the Arctic. German Sheppards that guard embassies. Bloodhounds that sniff for clues. Beagles that jump out of planes.
Whiskey’s job is to curl up on my office chair and sleep.
We’ve tried to teach him accounting or filing or even just to answer the phone. But he doesn’t want to take on any more work than he can handle.

But he is cheap help to have at the office. Instead of a salary and benefits, he asks to be paid in belly rubs and biscuits. I’m happy to oblige 🙂

Oh my goodness, Whiskey is adorable in these pics! What fun to be able to take him to work with you. It is my dream to have a job where I can take Bonnie. 🙂

I manage a film production and distribution company that is dog friendly and pretty laid back. Plus Whiskey just sleeps in his bed most of the time, or on my office chair…while I’m sitting in it. It does feel a little odd when I occasionally find a squeaky toy under the fax machine.

We used to have a golden retriever that came in too, but she was put down in September 🙁 But there is a new golden puppy coming in 2 weeks and it is ridiculously adorable. I don’t know how we’ll get work done then!
