One of my favorite things about the season is getting to spent time with friends and family. Whether its dinner and drinks in the evening or even just meeting up to look at Christmas displays, its nice to share this time of year with the ones you love. Last weekend I was invited over to my friend Julia’s for a little Girls Night In dinner. It was a nice evening spent with good friends and really got me geared up for the season.
When I arrived, I was so impressed with her table display! It was so festive and put me right in the mood (or maybe that was the glass of lethal punch that I had!)
Every detail was incredibly sweet, right down to the Christmas cards and presents on the table (more on that farther down!)
Julia is a big snowman fan, so it made sense that everything had cute little snowmen on them, including the placecards.
We had lots of yummy food which I totally overindulged on, including this cake that my friend Shauna made…from scratch! She put it in a wreath mold and then covered it in festive icing and sprinkles.
When I mentioned the gifts earlier in this post, I knew that I had to take a picture of what was inside the box…
To conclude this post, I want to leave you with a funny Christmas tree story to start the weekend off with. It happened the night of our Girls Night In. All evening we were dancing around using Just Dance on the Wii (awesome game, by the way!) and then settled down to watch a movie. Before we knew it we were all wiped and hit the hay at 2am. Whiskey and I decided to crash on the couch, while my friend Courtney took the floor.
At 4am I woke up to a HUGE crash noise, only to look over and see that the entire (huge) tree had fallen just a foot away from Courtney. It was dark and she thought that Whiskey had knocked it over and then come running over to curl up by her. But Whiskey was with me…..so what landed all cuddled up in her arms? The angel! It came flying off the top and landed safely right in her arms.
Before we knew it, everyone in the house was in the living room trying to right the tree in the middle of the night. Thankfully no one was hurt and no decorations were broken, but it sure did take me a little while to get back to sleep. Maybe it was all that jumping and dancing around that we did earlier playing Wii that moved the tree, but whatever it was, it was pretty funny talking about it the next morning.
Today is my last day in the office, which means that in a few short hours I officially start my Christmas break! Two weeks off to enjoy a nice Christmas with the family and take a much needed break. Its a weekend full of Christmas parties and lots of shopping, but I’ll have some great posts lined up in the final week before Christmas, so be sure to stop by!
