Winter

Walking in a Winter Wonderland

Earlier this week I mentioned how I got snowed in at my parents’ house and couldn’t get back in the city for work. But what I didn’t mention is that up until that point I had actually been enjoying all the snowy weather on the weekend.

My friend Courtney’s family has a beautiful property that is back in the woods with nice paths to walk around and enjoy the scenery. We decided to lace up our boots and take our dogs for a walk (with the boyfriends in tow).
Keela and Whiskey started chasing each other the second that we let them off lead.
They are so similar in colour, the only way I tell them about when they are running is by their size. Its just a tan blur when they whiz by together.
They really do look like they are having a blast.
The paths were gorgeously blanketed in snow. They snow coming down was a little wet, but thankfully there was no wind and it wasn’t cold yet. It made for such a nice walk.
It was also nice to take a break from all the Holiday mayhem and catch up with a good friend too.
The dogs seemed to be happy, even in the cold. Every time that Whiskey got cold, he begged to be picked up and Dave was happy to oblige.
The boyfriend was kind enough to carry the plastic bag of clippings that I took as we walked. Perfect for making Holiday Flower Arrangements this weekend.

We walked until we reached a swampy part and then turned back around. Within the next few weeks all of that will freeze over and we’ll be able to go farther into the brush.

Whiskey quickly caught on that if he walked in people’s footprints then he didn’t have to trudge through the snow.

Keela, on the other hand, was happy to go racing through all the snow.

Eventually Whiskey got into running around with her again and they were racing back and forth between fields.

Go Whiskey Go!
But it wouldn’t take long for him to get cold and I’d put his coat back on.
And before you know it, he’s back to walking in footprints.
Like the littlest foot soldier in the world.

It was great to get the chance to take him out to enjoy a long walk off lead and it was great getting out myself to do something active with friends. Hopefully I’ll get to do more of this over the Christmas break.
