One of the great things about doing the 100 Miles in May Challenge is that I’m getting the chance to get out and see so much of the beautiful blooms that are coming up all over the city. I went to a different neighbourhood this weekend for a change of scenery and I loved the big trees in this area.
In particular this Magnolia. I always think of Steel Magnolias when I see them. I love that movie, especially all the witty banter between Shirley MacLaine and Olympia Dukakis.
The whole tree was in a wonderful bloom and I feel so lucky to have caught it at this exact moment before they started to fall. As nice as they are to look at, I can only imagine what the clean up is like when all those petals fall!
We’ve have a big rain this weekend and I can’t wait to get back out there this week and see what else has been blooming all over the city.
I just updated the mileage updates and I was thrilled to see that together we’ve completed 1300 miles! Yay! Its just about the halfway point and I’ve already done 42 miles. I need to kick up the game a bit and increase my walking/running/biking next month. Here’s hoping for some nicer weather!

Those are some beautiful trees! That’s exactly why I am loving the challenge as well..and kind of funny, but I’m at 42 as well. Time to step it up π
