Hammock Envy

What is it about Summer that makes us want to slow down the days and just relax? Here in Canada it may be because it is so brief and we hold onto every day just knowing that the bitter cold of Winter will return. Or maybe its the unrelenting heat that melts away all the hustle and bustle. Whatever it is, I cannot stop thinking about how lovely it would be to take a day off work and just go lay in a hammock with a good book. I know its a cliche, but I really do think its a great way to relax. For years we had a hammock at my childhood home and I loved it. I’d swing back and forth as the dappled light would come down through the trees. Now I find myself drawn to them. I’ve just discovered the wonderful world of Pinterest and one of the first things I started looking up was hammocks.

I picture a bright one like this in a quiet orchard. The faint sound of wind and crickets as you slowly rock back and forth.

A plush haven made for two on a nice big porch. There even looks like there is room for a little chihuahua to join in there too. Although I think I’d lose Whiskey the second that it started swinging.

Now this is a great outdoor living space. They’ve really done a great job of dividing the space between a dining area and a sitting area. The hammock looks like a perfect spot to relax.

Crisp and cozy. This is the kind of hammock that you’d fall asleep on within minutes. Calm and serene.

This is another great calming space. You have everything you could need – water and plants below, sky above, plenty of plush pillows and a table at arms reach to hold a drink. There is something very zen about this space.

I also love this hammock on the water. The woman who made this watches her children canoe along the water from here. What a great view 🙂

How romantic! It looks like something out of a fairy tale. The canopy of trees and lights. The plush pillows and blankets. Beautiful.

This may be just about the cutest little hammock. Just the right size for a little baby bum.

As beautiful as this looks, I have to wonder – how to do you get on it? I’ve been known to flip a hammock on bare ground. This just spells disaster for me.

Same question with this little pod: Looks pretty, but how do you get inside?
