Birthday Friends Hometown Summer

My Very Unexpected Surprise Belated Birthday Party!

On Saturday night I started to head over to my friend Amy’s place to what I thought was a little backyard BBQ with a few friends.

But when I showed up and turned the corner, they were more people than I was expecting.

It turns out that Amy was a sneaky friend and planned a surprise belated birthday party for me because I was too busy while I was making the film this Spring and I didn’t do a birthday party. What an amazing friend, eh? I love this girl 🙂

Garrett was in on it too and I was surprised that he never let it slip. He totally strung me along.

The greatest surprise was seeing friends from out of town that I had no idea would be there. It was such a wonderful shock to see them there and catch up.

There was also tons of amazing food, including some awesome homemade burgers that Amy’s brother made.

Summer is all about the grilled meats 🙂

There was so many great dishes prepared – salads, potatoes and fresh veggies. It was all stuff that I absolutely love. I was in BBQ heaven!

Amy really is the best hostess and put so much effort into making the whole event such a great surprise, but she even pulled one more on me…

…and made me her incredibly delicious Margarita Cupcakes. I don’t even want to confess how many of these I consumed over the weekend. It is impossible to have just one.

There were even more surprises as the night went on with friends showing up from far and wide,

and plenty of time spent hanging out with everyone.

I think I was beaming all night. My cheeks hurt from smiling so much!

After an amazing night, some of us woke up and went on a quick boat trip along the lake.
With my dad as our captain, we all cruised around deep in thought by the look of it. It was a perfect way to end a great weekend.
I’m still so shocked that they all pulled it off and that Amy would have done that for me. I was almost in tears I was so happy. I feel so lucky to have such amazing friends.
