Apartment Friends Moving

Getting Closer to the Light at the End of the Tunnel

I feel like I’ve been really slacking in the blog post department lately (no crafts! very few recipes!), but it has just been to chaotic here with the new job and move for me to find time to get creative. I have a big list of things I’d like to do once the move is done and I’m starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel now. Slowly, but surely, I’ll have everything at the new place by next Saturday and that is when all the organizing fun begins. I’ve already mapped out where everything will go (more details on that tomorrow!) and we’ve started shopping around for a couple of new pieces we’d like to get. Having a new place to spruce up is so exciting and I’m just bubbling over with ideas.

Yesterday, after a weekend of turkey and pumpkin pie, Garrett and I drove back to Toronto to do another load of boxes and furniture from the old apartment. Combined with last week’s load, we’re about 2/3 done.

We loaded up a borrowed old van and packed it in with as much stuff as we could. We fit the futon, desk, dresser, tv stand and stability ball in there with lots of room for smaller bags, boxes and of course Whiskey’s bed and stuffed toys too (the most important part, right?) I was shocked at how much actually fit in there, with plenty of room for us up at the front.

The captain expertly drove the van, while I played DJ tried not to fall asleep.
After a long and bumpy drive, we stopped into our friends’ Dave and Courtney’s house for a lovely Thanksgiving Dinner they hosted as a thank you for all the work everyone did at their Jack and Jill last month. It was the perfect break after a long afternoon of packing, taking apart furniture and lugging everything down the stairs.
Courtney had the table beautifully set and was a wonderful hostess. Having spent the day between a packing mess at the old apartment and then a cramped van on the way there, it was a lovely sigh of relief to see this sight. Something a little more organized and civilized, thank you!
The food was amazing (I need to get her recipes!) and we spent the whole meal laughing and joking around with our friends. It makes me happy to know that we’ll be living even closer to all of these guys now and group dinners can be a more common event for us, because we always have so much fun.
This week I’ll be going back and forth between both places, trying to get them cleaned up, and packing the last of the boxes. If everything goes to plan, then it should just be the last few big pieces left on Saturday. WooHoo!
