Saturday was the final moving day and we managed to get everything down three flights of stairs at the old place, drive it all on the highway in a rain storm and then back up another story at the new place. I swear that my legs and arms have seized up from all that carrying and climbing. Thank you to my family and friends who helped me so much that day. I seriously would not have been able to do it alone. You’d probably find me have dead on a stairway landing right about now. I didn’t even have energy to set up the bed and instead just slept on the futon mattress on the floor. A Saturday night and I’m out for the count before its even 11pm.
Despite the complete and utter exhaustion I felt that night, I woke up on Sunday with renewed energy and started working right away on getting everything set up.
After a whole day of unpacking, I had this big mountain of boxes that need to be broken down for recycling. Even with all the mess, it makes me feel like I’ve accomplished something!
As great as unpacking and settling in felt, the best part of my day was heading to my parents’ house for Sunday night dinner. I’m only a half hour drive away from them now and it was nice to just hop in the car and go visit them instead of jumping from subway to bus to train, etc.
After a long day of working on the apartment it was wonderful to just sit back and enjoy a meal with my parents. My super sweet mom made one of my all-time favourite meals – roast beef with all the fixin’s, including homemade yorkshire puddings. I’m posting the recipe up tomorrow and I strongly urge you to make them.
Visiting my parents also meant that I got to pick up this guy. Between me housesitting for my parents and then them watching him while I did all the moving, Whiskey has been staying with at their house for the past five weeks. Even though I’ve been back and forth to their place quite a bit, it just hasn’t been the same not having my little partner by my side. The first thing he did when we got to the new apartment was make a beeline for his bin of toys and then curl up on top of the pillows on the couch. I think he’ll be just fine here!

Lots of windows are certainly nice! I can’t remember if you mentioned this before or not, are you still in the city or did you move further out?
