Motivation for the Weekend

The past few weekends I’ve been taking it easy with projects. A few little things here and there, but for the most part I’ve just been relaxing and enjoying the free time. Most evenings during the week I am either working from home for one of my other jobs or heading off to the gym, so weekends really have become my relaxation time. We tend to head to the gym in the morning to get it out of the way and then take the rest of the day to lounge around the house. Catch up on reading. Clean out a few drawers. Watch a movie or two.

This week I’ve started to get that Spring cleaning bug. I want to organize things. I want to clean things. I want to rearrange furniture.Whenever I’ve had free time I find myself heading to my three favourite blogs about organizing. They are eye candy that give me the ultimate sugar high.

First up is Erin at Sunny Side Up. Whether its a post about organizing her linen closet or pictures of her adorable kids – reading her posts always feels like I’m reading an email from a friend. I look forward to her posts every day.

Organizing any room of your home would not be complete without heading over to Jen at IHeart Organizing. Not only is this lovely lady super organized, but she also has an incredible talent for making things look pretty…and for a woman with three young boys that is no small feat.

I also recently came across A Bowl Full of Lemons and have been enjoying her organization tips too…plus I love the name 🙂

For the most part I am happy with our apartment, but there are still some things that I really need to work on.

Like finding hooks or a towel bar for in the bathroom. One side of the bathroom is pretty and the other side looks like this. I would also like to add some kind of artwork here to liven things up.

Most of the apartment is pretty well organized but there is one area that is still in desperate need of some direction – Garrett’s desk. I feel bad for him because that whole area has become a catch all for stuff and he has to be amongst it. My bike is there, along with all the other exercise equipment….and the tools…and the excess decor boxes…and the two lamps that need new bulbs. Its a mess and its not his fault. However that McDonald’s bag photobomb on the couch is his fault.
We bought the desk when we moved in and now we just need to find some little bins to go on the top shelf and corral all his pens and things. And I need to figure out a better way to store all that junk…or get rid of it.
Speaking of new purchases, I just grabbed this Capiz Round Frame from Indigo Books for $6.13 from $24.50. It has a lovely bit of sparkle in real life and it will be perfect in the bedroom or bathroom. Now I just need to find a picture for it. Lets just hope it doesn’t take as long as last time.
Another sweet find this week were these adorable tea towels I found for $1.44 at Canada Superstore. When I got home I realized that they match the dining room chairs. Perfect! They also go with the tea towels I bought a couple of years ago in Florida and the lovely Paula Deen tea towel my mother brought me back from Savannah, Georgia.
Aside from doing some reorganizing around here, I plan to get in lots of cuddle time with this little guy. He spent most of last night sleeping on my chest while watching TV on the couch and it took all my willpower to get up and go to bed even though he was so cozy.
I also want to attempt this chocolate chunk banana bread recipe again. I tried it last Saturday and it had so much promise, but it came out dry and bland. But I still ate it….with butter on top. How can I let chocolate go to waste?
Hope you have a lovely weekend planned and that you get some relaxation yourself!

Hi Amanda! You are so sweet to mention my blog! I think what you wrote (that reading it is like getting an e-mail from a friend) is one of the nicest things anyone could have said. Thank you! You made my day. 🙂

I love your new tea towels! Such fun colors for spring. And I hear ya on needing to organize the desk. Desks are such landing spots for everything. You should see my scrapbook table. Not pretty! Have a great weekend and thanks again for your kind words. I’m off to check out your winter comfort foods. They all look so good!!

Hi, I'm Amanda! Join me as I make my family's 1903 farmhouse into a home. I share renovations, DIY projects, recipes, our flower farm and the joy of living in the Canadian countryside
