Yesterday on my lunch break I thought I’d go onto my online banking to check my accounts, only to find that the bank had made a mistake with a transaction I did earlier in the week and DRAINED MY SAVINGS ACCOUNT. Seriously. In the end it turned out they had moved it into another one of my accounts by accident and charged me for the transactions. This meant an unplanned trip to the bank after work and an hour of waiting at the bank for them to fix it. It took the bank manager four times to get it right but in the end all was well.
After that scare, I felt like I deserved a little shopping trip. As I mentioned yesterday, I have been wanting to organize the apartment some more and what better place to get supplies than the dollar store! Cheap and if they don’t work out I don’t feel as bad shelling out the money.
First I found some brown trays to go on the shelves of Garrett’s desk and organize some of the clutter….or at least hide it. I would have preferred to have found real baskets to fit in there, but its an awkward size and these ended up fitting perfectly. I have one each of the long ones for either side and the tall one will sit by on the desk for pens and notepads.
These plastic tubs will be great for some under-sink storage we desperately need. I’ve been using some old bins that I had but they don’t stack, so inevitably something falls out whenever I go under the sink. Hopefully this will help remedy that.
We have a divider in our utensil drawer but its starting to overflow with kitchen gadgets, so these new drawer dividers will help conquer the clutter.
I also grabbed a few little odds and ends for around the apartment – a small jar for my growing button collection, a sweet little box for an upcoming birthday and these great fabric buckets for in the closet.
A trip to the dollar store would not be complete without a couple of fun craft ideas too. I’ll be sharing more about these soon I’m sure.
