Decor Shopping

Online Shopping is Still Retail Therapy

I have talked before about my love of the home section at Indigo Books. They have beautiful contempary pieces in lovely colours that fit into the style that we have at our home. So when their summer sale came around a couple of weeks ago, I used it as an opportunity to use up the last of my birthday money and pick up some things for around the home.

I love these odd shaped serving bowls in aqua and light green (looks more grey here), along with the olive wood salad scoops (I’d always used 2 forks before, but now I have real ones!). They= bowls are the perfect size for serving up big salads or pasta dishes.

The little green bowl is actually one that I fell in love with back in April and I couldn’t pass it up for $5. It would be great in the front hall as a catchall for keys and change, or even as a soap dish in the bathroom. For now I’ll be using it as the perfect sized fruit salad bowl.

I also snagged a new waffle knit throw blanket for the living room couch. It goes great with the colours of the new couch pillows I made this spring. Whiskey approves of it (I’ve already found him nestled in it a few times).

As if one summer blanket wasn’t enough, I grabbed this woven zig zag throw in a light green, which goes great with the new pillows in the bedroom, including this green stitch lumbar pillow (also from Indigo). I’ve been keeping it folded up at the end of the bed for those nights when the A/C gets a little too chilly, but not enough to get under the big duvet.

This bone inlay box is sitting on the TV console now and houses all the remotes. (Forgot to take a picture today before I left the house. You can still buy in at Indigo for $16.)

My favourite purchase is actually something that isn’t even for me. It’s a gift for a dear friend of mine, but I had to share it because they still have it at the online store right now and I think you need to get it. I already ordered more of them myself!

Inside is everything you need to make a garden to attract birds.

It comes with a chart to help you plan out your bird garden, along with the names of all the flowers that are in the kit.

Each seed is in a little enclosed tin and when planted they will each attract a different type of bird, including songbirds and hummingbirds.

And the tins are labelled underneath, so that you don’t mix them up.

There is also a little guide about each flower, as well as little wooden stakes for marking your flowers.

Isn’t that so sweet?
And on a final note today, I thought I would share a funny little mistake I made, which I discovered while I was getting ready this morning.
You see, we have these bath crayons in our shower that Garrett and I write little notes to with, make doodles, etc.

On Monday I excitedly wrote out a “Countdown to the Long Weekend” on the wall, and it wasn’t until this morning that I noticed my mistake. Do you see it?  Yep, I was counting up?!?! #blondmoment

In reality we only have TWO days left until the long weekend and I can’t wait. As you can tell by the picture above, I think I need to give my mind a little bit of a break.
