Family

A Painted Picture

Last Fall, I drove past this beautiful red barn and just had to pull over to take a picture. I posted it in on the blog, and my aunt saw it and she sent it to my Great Aunt.

Now there is something you should know about my Great Aunt Irene . She is still a feisty lady at the young age of 92, who has more energy than most people I know who’ve been around for a quarter of her lifetime. She the quirky collector of 243 Owls (and I’m sure there are already some more additions to the collection) and she is also a very talented artist. She still teaches painting classes in her town. There is not a home in our family that doesn’t have one of her paintings….including my own now.

She painted my picture! She gave it to me this month as an early Christmas present and you have no idea how touched I was. It was awesome to see my image come to life in a whole new way.

Now I kind of want to have a print of this made to give to the owners of the barn a copy for themselves. I drove by the barn this week and I had to smile thinking about my own version of it back at home 🙂

That is so beautiful and what a sweet thing I am sure you will always keep! I am sure the owner would love a copy! Love hearing stories like this!
