Easter Easter Ideas Holidays Recipe Spring

Bunny Bait {Easter Popcorn}

This recipe is similar to the White Chocolate Popcorn I made last fall, but fun and colourful for Easter. Set a bowl of this out at your Easter party, and you’ll be surprised at how quickly it goes.

You can also fill up a treat bag with this delicious mix, tie it with a bow and hand it out to guests or neighbours. Kids and adults alike will love this!

What you’ll need:

  • 1 bag of microwave popcorn
  • 2 oz white chocolate, chopped
  • 2 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 tsp coconut oil, divided
  • 1/4 – 1/2 cup mixin’s (Robin’s Eggs, pastel chocolate Smarties, pretzels, etc.)
  • pastel sprinkles

This made about four treat bags of popcorn, but you can easily double this recipe for more.

Pop the bag of microwave popcorn and pour into a large bowl.
To remove all the kernels, place a wire baking rack on top of the bowl.

Flip the bowl over, keeping the baking rack attached, and shake over top of a large rimmed baking sheet.

All the tooth-breaking kernels will sift out onto the baking sheet. Discard kernels.

Line the rimmed baking sheet with wax paper and pour the popcorn onto the sheet. Add in any of your mixin’s. I went with my seasonal favourite – Robin’s Eggs. Add the white chocolate and 1/2 tsp of coconut oil together in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave for 30 second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth. Drizzle over the popcorn.

Add the semi-sweet chocolate and 1/2 tsp of coconut oil together in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave for 30 second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth. Drizzle over the popcorn.

Sprinkle with the pastel sprinkles while the chocolate is still wet. Allow to cool completely before breaking up. It will keep in an airtight container at room temperature for several days.

Maybe leave a little bowl out on Saturday night and see if you can lure the Easter bunny to your house.

    Fantastic!

I don’t know why, but I literally never thought to invert the bowl like that to get rid of the unpopped kernels. It’s a great idea!
