Party Wedding

Bridal Shower Menu {Wedding Wednesday}

Last week I shared a bit about the wonderful bridal shower that my mother and sister hosted for me. They put so much work into it and made it a really special day. I had such a great time visiting with everyone who was there, but I was also really excited about the menu. With my food allergies, it’s so rare that I can go anywhere and literally eat anything that is on the table, so you better believe I was looking forward to sampling everything. The ironic thing is that I was so busy chatting with everyone that I really didn’t eat much that day, but I was able to sample most of it after the party and got some pretty great leftovers to take home.

The food spread was incredible with a menu that was simple yet classic. There were tea sandwiches, cheese and crackers, veggies, fruit and some delicious sweets.

My mom, great aunt and bridesmaids helped with making a selection of tea sandwiches such as Salmon Salad, Turkey & Apple Brie on Pumpernickel (my fav!), Egg Salad, Ham & Mustard, Fiesta Pinwheels and Cucumber & Dill Cream Cheese. I was in charge of putting together the cucumber ones and I got about halfway through them when I realized I had forgot to add the cucumbers! Thankfully it was a quick fix but I had to laugh that I was so spaced out while I was going it.

The sweets were a huge hit with my maid of honour/sister and my bridesmaid Amy both bringing some real good ones. Amy brought a beautiful mercury glass tiered stand (which was also a gift!) with a selection of squares. Red Velvet Brownies with White Chocolate Frosting, Black-Bottom Coconut Squares, Raspberry-Blackberry Crumble Squares and Sugar Cookie Bars, which were a huge hit with the pregnant ladies there.

My sister made Lemon Cupcakes with Lemon Frosting and Vanilla Bean Cupcakes with Buttercream Frosting.

I’m always amazed by how fantastic her cupcakes and cakes look. She is so talented and they always taste even better than they look (if that’s even possible).

Garrett’s mom and sister brought some huge fruit trays with a yummy cream dip.

There were plenty of beverages to choose from including coffee, tea, lemon water, champagne and a fun punch called “Blushing Bride”.

 We brought out my great grandmother’s silver tea set for the occasion for a little vintage flair.

My mom’s collection of vintage tea cups went perfectly with the afternoon tea theme. (They also made an appearance at my friend Alison’s bridal shower last year!)

I know that there are lots of people out there hosting bridal showers this spring and hopefully this gives you some menu ideas.
