With our wedding coming up this spring, there are going to be many wedding related posts coming up. I know that it isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, so I decided to start doing “Wedding Wednesdays”! Every Wednesday I’ll be posting anything related to the wedding, that way you can skip it if weddings aren’t your thing…or you can make sure to stop by on Wednesdays if they are!
I’ve also added a Wedding tab at the top which has all the wedding related posts, including any that we’ve been to before. I’ve been so lucky to celebrate the weddings of many of my friends over the past few years while I’ve had the blog and now I have somewhere to share it!

A couple of weekends ago, my mom and sister hosted a bridal shower for me. It was such a special day to share with all the ladies in my life and I am still feeling overwhelmed with all the love!
The decor was all light pinks and pastels – making it feel like it was spring!
Bouquets of light pink mini carnations, pink baby’s breath and alstroemeria.
Potted plants in pale yellows…
…and soft pinks.
We found some of those classic white paper wedding bells and hung them up with a pink satin bow and some fluffy tulle. I’m not a girly girl usually, but have to admit that it was fun to go with such fresh pastel colours. You could hardly tell that it was still winter outside.
The food spread was incredible. There were tea sandwiches, cheese and crackers, veggies, fruit and of course some delicious sweets.
The trays of bars, brownies and cupcakes that were just too good to pass up on. I’m going to need to do a whole post on just the food alone. My sister and Amy made all the sweets and I made sure to get the recipes to share!
Yellow lemon cupcakes and pink vanilla bean cupcakes – that looked like flowers and tasted amazing.
The beverage station was so cute – “Blushing Bride Punch”, lemon water, coffee and tea.
They had some great games lined up, with I’ll go into detail in another post.
The prizes were all yummy scented goodies that reminded you of a bake shop – lemon squares, raspberry tarts, macaroons.
As great as all the food, games and gifts were, for me it was really about being surrounding by all this women who are so important to me in my life. I just kept looking around the room smiling. My cheeks hurt for days!
Speaking of gifts, I was totally spoiled and just so overwhelmed. I really appreciated everything and I can’t wait to cook up a storm in the kitchen with all the new goodies. One of my favourite surprises? See that bow on the gift up there on the right? You plug it in and it lights up! That’s what I was so excited about. I hadn’t even opened the gift and I was already all over it!
Two of my sweet bridesmaids, Amy & Alison, added all the bows from the gifts onto an incredibly fashionable hat.
I felt like I was ready to go to the Kentucky Derby. You better believe that the lighted bow made an appearance again throughout the rest of the shower.
My brother and I helped my sister to make the favours. They were adorable lacy patterned candle holders from IKEA with tealights and matches. (Details here!)
It was great to have all the bridesmaids together and have a little fun in the photobooth with some old hats. Don’t you love my 80s style wedding veil/hat?
A big big thank you goes to my sister who was an incredible host and made it such a fun event for everyone. It was a whole group effort to put the party together with my family, Garrett’s family and all the bridesmaids, and it means so much to me to have everyone helping us as we celebrate this next chapter in our lives. Less than 3 months until we’re going to be hitched!
