Friday Favourites

Friday Favourites

After an awesome whirlwind wedding weekend, we’ve been spending this week recuperating (having that much fun can be exhausting!) and getting ready for our epic honeymoon roadtrip we set out on early tomorrow morning. After months of talking about it, it’s hard to believe that it’s already here!

The bags are (almost) packed, the apartment is still a mess and Whiskey is getting extra snuggles in anticipation of me going into withdrawl over the next two weeks. This will be the longest time I’ve ever been away from my little buddy and I’m getting homesick just thinking about his sweet little face. Thankfully he’ll be in good hands with Garrett’s parents, who spoil him just as much as we do.

As for the blog, I’ve got some fun posts scheduled so make sure to pop by! If you’d like to see what we’re up to on our honeymoon, check out my Instagram.

sweet-tea

Southern Summer Must Have: I have to admit that I’ve never tried sweet tea before, but I think we’ll be adding that to the list of things we try when we’re down there for our honeymoon.

Showhome Love: I’ve been drooling over all the posts at Young House Love about the showhome they designed this year. Every room is full of beautiful pieces and fun textures.

Ultimate-Guides-Collage

Baking Genius: Tess from Handle the Heat has put together the Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookie Guide. I love my mom’s traditional Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe, but the idea of playing around with the ingredients to get different properties sounds like lots of fun too.

Green Thumb Gift Idea: This Gardening Gift Set is so sweet. We gave my mom some gardening goodies and a new lilac bush for Mother’s Day, but after seeing this I wish that we’d put it all together in a terra cotta pot with some twine.

 sisal planter1

Porch Planter Update: I’ve been brainstorming ways to update our little front porch and when I saw this planter update using sisal rope, it got me thinking about adding some texture into our planters. We have some stands like this leftover from the wedding too!smore-pizza

Grilled Sweet Treat: This recipe blew my mind twice – 1) Smore Pizza + 2) Grilled. #genius

Puppy Dog Dreams: For a long long time Garrett and I have talked about getting another dog once we have a house with a backyard. As much as I’d love to give Whiskey someone to play with, we just can’t justify it with a tiny little apartment. But that’s doesn’t mean that I am not day dreaming about puppies from time to time, especially these Catahoula Leopard dogs which have always been one of my favourites. They are the official state dog of Louisiana…and we’re going there on our honeymoon…but thankfully I have enough will power to resist. It just means that when we’re ready to get one, we’ll have to make another trip down there and I’m okay with that!

Congrats for your wedding! About the new dog…please, please, when the right time comes, adopt/rescue one. They are so many just waiting for a chance. You won’t regret it.

Love the architecture of the two story home. Also, the photos of the puppies are so cute! Catahoula Leopard dogs are adorable. I hope you’ll consider finding one in a rescue organization, though!
