I’m feeling wiped today. I’ve been staying up way too late this week and now I’m paying the price. My exciting plans for a Friday evening? Taking a nap. Seriously. It’s days like this that I wish I liked coffee
I’ve just had lots of fun projects (and some future blog surprises) that I’ve been working on and sometimes stopping to go to sleep just seems so inconvenient. I try to set weekly goals and they can be as simple as “clean the kitchen every night” or “keep the dining room table cleared”. Next week’s goal is for sure “go to bed at a reasonable time” and I’ve even gone so far as to set a timer on my phone each night to remind me to wind down. We’ll see how it works out.

Good Recipe: Last week I picked up a basket of these cucumbers and attempted to make my very first jar of homemade pickles. I was nervous to open them up 48 hours later, but they actually turned out great. I’ll be sharing the recipe next week. It’s so much easier than I thought!
Bad Recipe: I tried to make these tea biscuits from a new cookbook I have, but then I never heard the oven timer go off…and they got burnt. I’m talking way beyond edible. No amount of butter or jam could fix it. Maybe I’ll try them again and set a backup timer…
Date Night: On Friday we went to Medieval Times in Toronto with some friends. Neither of us had been before and it sounded like a fun night out. We wore dorky crowns, visited a dungeon of torture devices (seriously scary stuff…that really happened) and then caught the show.
We had the cute knight (green!) who looked a lot like Orlando Bloom, so I happily cheered him on, while eating our dinner…with our hands. They seriously don’t give you any utensils and I while I remember hearing that once before, it didn’t really dawn on me until we got there. Of course, the guys thought it was the greatest.
The show itself is really well done – with lights, smoke, music and some pretty epic jousting. The horses and their handlers were just so impressive. If given the chance, I think Garrett and his friend would have reenacted the scene from The Cable Guy.
Lake Life: On Sunday, I drove over to my parents’ for a day out on the boat. I spent so much of my childhood out on this water and I always feel so relaxed out on the water (just don’t ask me to get in). My brother and sister went wakeboarding, while I stayed in the boat as the spotter/photographer. It was such a beautiful day and it made me a little sentimental about the summers we had when we all still lived at home. We capped off the day with a cocktail hour out at the pool and dinner on the back porch.
Small Town Fun: This weekend, I’m hoping to make it out to the local fair. It’s always a highlight of the summer and it’s been a few years since I’ve been around this particular weekend to go. Tomorrow night is the monster trucks – and how could I miss that?

What are your plans for the weekend? Please say that at least one nap is involved…I need to live vicariously through other people’s opportunities to sleep…

Haha, I pretty much live off of naps so I’ve totally got your back on that one. I’m lucky if I’ll get around to that!
Weekend? Hmm possible Jays game, driving lesson, part-time job Sunday (ugh, lol), Bangs and Blush night at Clinton’s on Saturday (woo!). So dunno where I’d squeeze in that nap…
I hope you get around to that tonight! Have fun at the fair and monster trucks!!

How was Bangs and Blush?!? It’s always so much fun.
We made it to the Monster Trucks, but could hardly see anything…so we hit up the beer garden instead. Still lots of fun at the ol’ fair 🙂
