I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that improving how we train the dogs has been a one of our big goals this year and I'm really excited to share one of our big successes with you guys today. When it was just Whiskey, his pulling and tugging on the leash during walks didn't phase me as much. He wasn't terribly strong and it was more annoying than anything, but then we adopted Cola this spring and their combined strength when pulling was just too much. Instead of looking forward to our morning and afternoon walks together, I dreaded them. I'd spend the whole time being tugged along by our little sled team, they wouldn't listen and it just wasn't very fun anymore. There had to be a better way.
Then I started researching different collars and harnesses and learning more about how the traditional collars I was using could actually be causing damage to their necks and spine every time they lunged on our walks. That's when I got in touch with Alecia Evans about her Walk In Sync Humane Dog Walking and Training System. I watched some of her 5 minute makeover videos and I was convinced that this was what I was looking for – something humane and easy for all of us to adapt to. The very first time we put the harnesses on them, they instantly started walking better. We've been using the training system for the past couple of months and I've seen a huge improvement in not only how they walk alongside me, but also their behaviour when we're walking them. A couple of times I've gone back to using a normal collar and they go back to their old habits, then we put the harness on and right away they stop pulling and lunging, which saves my arm from being tugged all the time.
I got out the camera this week and made a video to show you why we all love this training system. It was fun to head out to our favourite park and shoot some scenes with the pooches. The harness can be turned around to be a walking harness with the clip at the back, or used like we do as a training harness with the clip in the front. The harness itself is really easy to put on and the dogs are so used to them now. If you watch the video, you'll see that they put their heads through them without prompting. One of my favourite features are the comfortable hand grips on the leash. It makes it really easy to not only hold on to the leash, but also know where to put my hands. The harnesses have been great for everything from cottage weekends with friends to music nights in the park. I truly wouldn't hesitate recommending the Walk In Sync Humane Dog Walking and Training System to dog owners who are looking to improve their training. We love our little guys and knowing that we're using a humane harness that isn't causing any damage to their necks and spines is so important to us. I look forward to our walks everyday now! Disclaimer: Walk In Sync kindly sent me the training system to try on with our dogs. All opinions are my own and I'd happily recommend this product to any fellow dog owners. Whiskey and Cola give it two paws up too.

These harnesses look like such a great idea!! We have 3 cats (I know..) but only one of them needs a leash when we take him outside in the backyard and I’ve always thought a harness that wrapped around his body would be so much more effective than his leash (he likes to wander so the leash is constantly tugging at his neck).
Thanks for the idea and video post! Love Whiskey and Cola! =)

Hi Amanda
I just ordered this harness and leash based on watching your video and reading your feedback as well as the information on her website. We trained our dog using a prong collar. It works well but our large dog will still pull a bit until the prongs catch and this causes my mildly arthritic hands to hurt. The Walk in Sync method looks much more comfortable for both the dog and the human. I am looking forward to much more enjoyable walks. 🙂 Thank you for sharing your information about this leash method. I look forward to reading your blog everyday. Rhonda
