Happy Friday! It’s the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend starting tonight, so that means I’m off to my parents’ house with the dogs for some fall festivities. This year we’re doing something totally different for Thanksgiving, with the whole family is heading out on an afternoon hike. I really hope that the leaves are still fiery red and orange so I can get some great photos. I’ve been looking forward to tomorrow for weeks – I love having the family together, catching up with my siblings and cousins…and all the yummy food too. It’s been a really busy week and I can’t wait to spend some relaxing downtime with family.

Fall Walks: Even though it’s getting chilly out now (I wore a hat this morning!), I’m loving taking the dogs on our morning and afternoon walks around the neighbourhood. The leaves are so beautiful and vibrant right now. I just want to savour it all before winter gets here!
On our walk this morning, Garrett and I were talking about how we wonder if Cola has ever seen snow or would remember it, seeing as he was such a young pup. It should be interesting to see what his reaction is! It reminds me that I really need to sew him his own little sweaters and jackets. He’s a little rounder than Whiskey, so we can just barely fit any of them on him, ha!
Cola is Doing Much Better: Thank you for all your well wishes. We had quite the scare last week, but our little hyper pup is getting back to his normal self. Today’s his last day on medication and then we just need to keep an eye on him for any signs of back pain.
We’ve been keeping him pretty low key lately, which is really hard with such an active pooch. I did learn one trick though…he LOVES my Magic Bag Neck Wrap.
I heat it up in the microwave and then put it on his back. I don’t make it as hot as I would for a human because his skin isn’t as thick as ours and sometimes I wrap it in a hand towel first before putting it on him. He just snuggles up with it and dozes while I go about getting work done. I spent two hours cleaning out the closet and dressers…and he just laid there the whole time.
Whiskey likes to join him too. Sometimes he’ll snuggle up behind Cola to get the warmth of the bag.
Turkey Time: Thanksgiving is one of my favourite holidays. It’s the first time we’ve all seen each other since the summer and it’s always so much fun. I’m excited for the hike and hopefully it’ll become a new tradition!
I’ve really been trying to eat clean all week and my light at the end of the tunnel was thinking about all the yummy Thanksgiving dishes and treats that we’re going to have tomorrow (and the leftovers!)
Holiday Guide – Coming October 15th, 2014: This is something that’s been in the works for awhile now, but since we’re less than a week away, I can share it a little bit about it. Next Wednesday, my 2014 Holiday Guide will be going live, with gift guides, recipes, crafts, decor, giveaways and new posts throughout the holiday season. The holidays are my favourite time of year and I hope to pass on some of my favourite things to make this a great one for you too this year! Be sure to come back next week for the launch!
