Honeymoon Organizing Photography Road Trip

Honeymoon Road Trip Photo Book from Shutterfly

After our Honeymoon Road Trip through the Southern US last spring, I came home with thousands of photos. I went through each day, edited my favourites and eventually put them into a series of blog posts. As great as it is to have this online diary for us to go back and reference, I still wanted something concrete that we could share with family and friends for years to come. That trip was a big moment for us, and the start of our married life together, so why not preserve those memories?

That’s when I started looking at the photo books you can create using Shutterfly‘s website. I put together our photos on their online software and about a week later I got this beautiful hardcover book that I’ll cherish forever.

We kept a journal on our road trip and I was able to pair that up with the photos we had and create a story of what we did each day as newlyweds exploring the Southern US together!

It talks about the friends we met along the way that left a lasting impact and the family from afar that we got the chance to visit.

The photos themselves came out crisp and true to colour. I was so pleased with the quality of the printing and the paper. This is a serious hardcover book!

Originally I made the book just for us to have, but I got an unexpected surprise from it. My great aunt has difficulty seeing pictures on computer screens, so she’d never really seen the honeymoon photos. She was visiting my parents last weekend and I brought up the book to show them all.

She was completely enthralled with it and read the whole thing cover-to-cover. She said it made her feel like she was right there with us on the trip, and she was able to see all the people and places we’d talked about. My parents ended up reading it too, as did Garrett’s family and we’re looking forward to sharing it with his grandmother this week too.

Being able to share our trip with all of our family was really special and I love the idea that our kids will be able to read it someday too.

Putting the book together on Shutterfly was really easy and the page formats they had helped us pack lots of photos into the 110 pages! The online software was very easy to use. I uploaded my photos and then selected the page formats that I liked. Then all I had to do was drag and drop my images in, and add the text that I wanted.

We had a lot of fun putting this together. It was so nice to be able to relive all those memories together…although it did give us a mad craving for beignets again!

Once the book was done, I was able to preview it, make any changes and then send it to print! The great thing about Shutterfly is that they always have promotions. Right now everything is 40% off making it a great time to start your first book! We’re already working on our next photo book with all our wedding photos!

Having these memories of each day of our trip has been priceless. This will be a treasured keepsake for years to come.

That is such a beautiful idea! My aunt does the same thing – she gets a book made of her and the family’s photographs from the past year. I always love looking at it when I go by their place. Such a great keepsake!

Hello! What a lovely book. I just had a question about your photo book cover image – is there an option to make the cover full bleed (how you have you image) as I am not able to do this with the software, unless I am missing something. Thank you!
