Friday Favourites

Friday Favourites – Baby Shower, Freezer Meals and Daydream Travelling

Happy Friday! It feels like this week just flew by, which is kind of a good thing because I’m really looking forward to this weekend. We’ve got a fun DIY project to work on together, some blog recipes to test out (Garrett is always a willing taste tester) and maybe even a movie date in the works. Just the thought of not having to set an alarm clock sounds so lovely (although I’ll probably get up early on my own anyway…my brain has forgotten how to sleep in). I’m even picking up all the stuff to make a German Pancake for Saturday brunch. I haven’t made one in ages.

Baby Shower: Last weekend I went to my dear friend Jen’s baby shower. It was so much fun to see some of my university friends and catch up. There were over 75 people there – I’ve never been to a baby shower that huge! I wish I’d remembered to take my camera out for photos, but I was having so much fun that I completely forgot. Just picture lots of cute pink things, a candy bar and yummy food. I still can’t believe that in just a couple of weeks she’ll be having a baby girl! It seems like just yesterday we were just meeting on our first day of university!

Freezer Meals: I know that I’ve got some busy days ahead of me in February, where I won’t have the time or energy to make dinner every night, so I’m trying to fill my freezer now while I have the time. So far I’ve got a half batch of Mom’s Infamous Macaroni and Cheese, a bag of Italian Turkey Meatballs (just need to make the sauce and freeze it) and a few packs of turkey burgers. Any other ideas of yummy freezable dinners? The more veggies in them the better. I also plan to freeze some banana bread slices, cookies, applesauce and egg muffins.

Daydream Traveling: When Garrett and I were going through our honeymoon photo book this week, it got us talking about our next road trip. It’s so hard to narrow it down when there are hundreds of places we want to see, but we’re almost positive that it will be the East Coast of Canada – Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. I’d love to see Newfoundland too, but I think we need to make that trip unto itself. It’s already 48 hours of driving as is! (the honeymoon road trip was over 56) I have no idea when it will be (this year? next year?) but it’s the most likely our next big driving trip. Someday I’d like to take Garrett to Europe too. I’ve been lucky enough to go to England, France, Italy, Greece and Poland, but there are so many places I’ve yet to see.

Hope you have a lovely weekend!!! If you can think of any good freezer dishes, leave them in the comments below, please and thank you!
