Friday Favourites Toronto

Friday Favourites – One of A Kind Show

Good Friday! So far mine has been a pretty good one. I’ve been hanging out with the dogs this morning and working on a project I’ll share soon. I’ve got plans to see friends and family later today too. I’m doing my best to savour these quieter weekends before all the DIY action picks up later this spring – although I can hardly wait for that to start too. Garrett and I both feel like we’re ready to move in now and waiting will feel like forever, but I’m sure it will come sooner than we realize.

Last weekend my aunt was displaying her work at the One Of A Kind Show and kindly gave my sister and I tickets to the show. We’ve both been so busy lately that it gave us a great chance to catch up, and we got to stop by and visit my aunt at her booth too.

I always love seeing what new pieces she has created. She has a great eye for how texture and colour can bring so much dimension to pottery. I find the whole process really fascinating.

Walking around the show gave me so much inspiration for what to do in our own future home and I loved seeing what the different vendors had to share. One of my favourite new finds was Leventhal-Vermaat, a custom furniture and design company by husband and wife team Jordana Leventhal and Jeff Vermaat. I love the mix of contemporary and rustic pieces.

One of the booths I was most excited to see was Cubit’s Seed Company. They have awesome organic heirloom seeds and great gift sets too. Once we’re ready to plant a vegetable garden, they’ll be the first people I call.

How cool are these vintage Canadian map pillows from County Cupboard? I love this idea! The maps are all from the late 1800s and early 1900s.

I went with the plan to pick up gifts but I ended up with a couple of treats for myself as well. I grabbed a packet of dill seeds from Cubit’s to add to our herb garden this year. I’m thinking I’ll keep the garden small this year while we do renovations and then look at making a real vegetable garden next year. I also made a total impulse buy after trying this Lighthouse Lemonade from the East Coast. It is a lemonade concentrate that you can add to water, club soda, cocktails, etc. It will be nice to have in the fridge this summer for a refreshing treat.

I hope that you all have a lovely Easter weekend!
