Farmhouse Friday Favourites

Friday Favourites – Long Weekend, Garage Sales & Moving Day

Happy Friday! Last night we picked up the keys to the farmhouse and got to working cleaning it from top to bottom. With all the rooms empty, it was a good time to give everything a deep clean before we start loading it up. Today we’re starting to move and we’ll continue tomorrow when friends and family join us to do the big stuff. Then on Sunday…I’m turning 30! How did that happen?

Long Weekend: I went to my parents house for the Victoria Day long weekend and had a great time. It was a fun and busy weekend with painting the porch, checking out garage sales and heading out in the boat. It really started to feel like summer.

The dogs were happy to have lots of space to run around and play…and then sleep in the boat. I can’t wait to get them out to the farmhouse after the move for their new life as country dogs.

One of the best parts about being at my parents in the summer is that we almost always eat outside. Whether it’s fresh muffins on the back porch for breakfast or cocktail hour on the dock, we spend as much time as we can outdoors.

Garage Sales: I’ve always liked driving around with my parents to garage sales, but right now they’ve taken on a whole new meaning. We’ve gotten some amazing finds the last few weeks and this last weekend was probably our best haul. I spent less than $100 and got most of the yard maintenance equipment we need, including a lawn mower, electric edge trimmer, hedge trimmer, branch clipper, snowblower, snow shovel, antique wheelbarrow plus some kitchen stuff…and Girl Guide cookies (they were the thin mint ones which are virtually impossible to pass up).

I was so proud of myself for getting such great deals, and then I went to the appliance store and definitely went over the hundred dollar threshold! For a long time Garrett and I have dreamed about having our own washer, dryer and dishwasher. They may seem like trivial things, but after years of hand washing all our dishes and doing laundry at our parents’ houses, these are big luxuries for us.

We feel like real grown ups now, ha! Everything gets delivered tomorrow and we’ll be washing our dishes in no time!

Moving Day: This is what I woke up to this morning (and there are two more piles like it). Thankfully it will all be moved out by tomorrow afternoon. Phew. I can’t wait.

We got to the farmhouse after dinner last night and stopped to watch the sunset out by the field. I still can’t believe that this is our home and that we get to take on this adventure together. It really is a dream come true.

I hope you have a lovely Friday and Happy Memorial Day weekend to all my American friends!

I had that stove at our old house – LOVED it!! The double oven is fantastic.
