In the hustle and bustle of the season, stocking stuffers can often be overlooked, while they’re actually a great way to give some truly unique and useful gifts. I’ve put together some of my favourite stocking stuffer ideas for the whole family, and everything is under $20!
*Please note – Amazon can change their prices from time to time, but at the time of publication all these items are under $20 US and may not all be available in your area. I’ll check back and update the list throughout the holidays if I see the prices changing. Thanks!
- Zippo Flameless Handwarmer – A great gift for university students making the long trek to campus or outdoorsy folks who do winter sports.
- Swiss Army Knife – This is a classic must-have for everyone on the go. From opening packages to cutting that annoying stray thread, it’s always handy to have a pocket knife around.
- Artisan Playing Cards – One of my favourite holiday traditions is playing cards with the family. Whether it’s Euchre or Go Fish, we always love to unplug from our devices over the Christmas break.
- Bee House – Pollinators are such an important part of any garden and a little house like this one will be a welcoming home for mason bees.
- Dig It Gardening Gloves – I recently got a pair of these gloves and love them. They’re not only well made and durable, but they also keep your nails from getting dirty.
- Rustic Wall Mount Bottle Opener – The perfect addition to any backyard patio, garage, man cave or shed pub.
- Fruit Keg Tapping Kit – Turn a watermelon or pumpkin into the life of the party with this tapping kit.
- Portable Crumb Vacuum – This would have been so handy when I had an office job. There is nothing quite as annoying as having a snack at your desk and getting crumbs all over your work area. This little vacuum can clean up your desk and keyboard in a jiffy.
- Rifle Paper Co. 2018 Herb Garden Desk Calendar – With the beautiful designs and high-quality prints, this desk calendar from Rifle Paper Co. will brighten up any desk or kitchen counter.
- Butter London Nail Polish – A new year needs a new nail colour, like this rich and luxe burgundy.
- Survival Kit – A basic survival kit is a must for every car and home, especially for those on the road often. You never know when an emergency situation could come up, so it’s always best to be prepared.
- Stylish Men’s Winter Socks – I know it can be seen as a joke to give/get socks for Christmas – but I really love it. It’s just about December 25th every year when you start to need some new pairs. These men’s socks have fun patterns, yet warm enough for winter.
- Every Drop Beauty Spatula – Anyone who has tried to get that last little bit of your favourite products out of the bottle knows how frustrating it can be. This handy little spatula lets you get every last drop!
- Avocado Hugger – A great find for the avocado toast lover in your family.
- The Old Farmers Almanac – For the last 225 years, this annual reference book has been used by millions of people around the world. It’s always an interesting read, with helpful tips and surprisingly accurate forecasts. I used one this year to figure out the last frost for our flower field and it was dead on.
- Book Light – I have a habit of staying up late reading, especially if I have a really juicy book. A clip-on book lamp like this one is great for reading without keeping your partner up. Add a new book and a stylish bookmark for a complete gift for your favourite bookworm.
- 2017 Tree Ornament – Celebrate this year with a new ornament. Great for tying onto stockings as a decoration too.
- Cozy Women’s Winter Socks – More socks, but this time for the ladies. Cute, colourful and cozy for the win.
- Dead Sea Mud Mask – All the holiday indulgences can wreak havoc on our skin, so a mud mask like this one is a great detox gift that will make them feel like they’re at the spa.
- Vermont Nut Free Chocolate Covered Pretzels – One of my family’s favourite chocolate treats, right up there with their Peppermint Crunch Bark and Milk Chocolate Skippers.
- Canadian Maple Syrup – A New Years morning breakfast wouldn’t be complete without some pancakes smothered in rich dark maple syrup.
- Magazine Subscription – Last Christmas my brother gave me a couple magazine subscriptions and I have enjoyed them all year long. Some great ones are Country Living, HGTV, House Beautiful and Classic Motorsport, but Amazon has them on almost any topic you can think of.
- Hershey Kisses – My mom always puts some Christmas Hershey Kisses in our stockings. Bonus budget tip – grab a big bag and divvy them up between all the stockings in the family.
- Packing Cubes – This is a great gift for the organized traveller in your life…or maybe even more so for the disorganized packer. These handy cubes help you keep everything in its place in your suitcase.
- Orange – I still think this is a classic and a great reminder that it wasn’t that long ago that oranges would have been seen as a special treat.
- Apple – Another classic stocking stuffer and a great way to fill up the “toe”. My grandfather used to bring us huge apples from an orchard in his town. We really did look forward to them every year. (And I’m sure my mother appreciated that we’d at least something healthy on Christmas morning, ha!)
- Craft Paint Brushes – Small brushes always come in handy for crafts, paint touch-ups or even cleaning out small spaces (very helpful for cleaning crevices in your car!)
- Wooden Slingshot with Felt Ammo – As the frequent target of my younger brother’s aim I would have greatly appreciated him using felt ammo like with this slingshot.
- Insta Snow Powder – Just because you don’t live up north doesn’t mean you can’t have a White Christmas!
- Taco Dog Toy – You can’t forget about your pooch over the holidays. Give them a new toy and some of their favourite treats for a little Christmas cheer.
- Crayola 64 pcs Sidewalk Chalk – Another great activity for those living in warmer climates, or if you’re planning a tropical family trip over the holidays.
- Silly Putty – I recently came across this at a store and was shocked that they still made Silly Putty. I can remember play this with my siblings. Now you can get them in all kinds of crazy colours too.
- Miniature Flashlight – These are not only handy for adults, but kids love them too. Perfect for illuminating your blanket fort or for taking an evening neighbourhood walk to see the Christmas lights.
- Star Wars Bandaids – Bumps and scratches are inevitable so you may as well make them a little more fun with cool bandaids.
- Fruit Ninja Card Game – Based on the popular online game, this card game version is sure to delight.
- Paper Doll Kit – My sister and I used to love playing with paper dolls and we would have been over the moon with this kit that allows you to make your own designs as well.
- Toddler Cozy Socks – Even the littlest tootsies in the family deserve some new socks. These non-skid ones are super cozy and perfect for rambunctious toddlers.
- Sunprint Paper Kit – A fun activity that explores sunlight and shadows. Great for a sunny winter afternoon.
